Filmed in Cherokee
Enhancing Engagement and Navigation
The Cherokee Office of Economic Development (COED) serves as a bridge between the public and private sectors, fostering economic growth in Cherokee County. Their mission is to create high-quality jobs, support local businesses, and attract new investments—all with a personal and strategic approach. To showcase Cherokee County as a prime filming destination, COED developed the Filmed in Cherokee app. This platform highlights filming locations from various productions, encouraging tourism and driving economic opportunities within the region.
Problem
While the initial release of the app was award-winning, COED sought to enhance its functionality with improved navigation and interactive features. The goal was to introduce check-in features to boost user engagement, provide users with themed, self-guided tours, and offer a way to promote productions that utilize private locations. These updates aimed to make the app more dynamic while continuing to support Cherokee County’s growing presence in the film industry.
Solution
To lay the foundation for these enhancements, a comprehensive design system was first developed and implemented. This system ensured consistency across the app, streamlining future updates and feature iterations. With this structure in place, new UX/UI improvements could be explored and refined, ultimately elevating the user experience and making the app more immersive and interactive.
